Daily sickness benefit (KTG)
Employees are still owed wages even if they are absent due to illness or pregnancy. This is enshrined in law for a certain period of time. How long the obligation to continue paying wages exists depends on the number of years of service and the scale used (Berne scale, Zurich scale or Basel scale). However, daily sickness benefit insurance is not compulsory.
Insured wage
With collective sickness benefit insurance, you can pass the business risk on to an insurance company. You can have your wages insured at 80%, 90% or even 100% for a maximum of two years. With KTG insurance, you choose a waiting period which is relevant to the premium and is deducted from the 730 days. For example, you can have your wages insured from the seventh day, or from the 14th / 30th / 60th or 90th day.
